Giant's Causeway

Have you ever heard of Giant's Causeway? Because I sure hadn't until a traveling friend of mine visited Northern Ireland a few months ago and came across this gem of a place.

Now, it might appear from the picture above that it's just a bunch of rocks. And, yes, that's correct. I paid money to get to see a giant pile of rocks.

But these aren't just any rocks. They're all shaped in various shapes and sizes. The majority of them are in hexagonal shapes and columns.

They are lovely to behold.

But, how did I get there?

Enter the Paddywagon Tour Group. Yeah, I'll give them a shoutout. I don't normally do tour groups because I don't like to pay money for information spouted at me that I can find on Google. However, this tour group only cost around $10-15 more than what it would have cost me to get there myself.

It was nice having a local tell old fables along the trek as well. What's unique about the Paddywagon tour was that the cost of the ticket to the Giant's Causeway was included in the price of the day-long tour. The tour additionally stopped at the Dark Hedges and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge to name a few of the sites.

Back on track, the Giant's Causeway are located about a 30 minute walk from the visitor center. You can opt to walk, or pay a couple of Euros to take the shuttle bus that goes back and forth. I chose to walk.

Along the way, there were several views of which I snapped pictures. It honestly didn't feel like a 30 minute walk. It should be noted, however, that going back means you'll have to walk uphill for a bit at the end. It wasn't too strenuous could be for some.

Your ticket also grants you entrance to the visitor center. Since I was with a tour group and we only had a limited amount of time, I chose to forego my time in the visitor center to focus more time on the reason I was there, the Giant's Causeway.

It was definitely the highlight of the Northern Ireland tour that I took. I would visit this place again without question.
